Bike, Swim, Boat to KASHA's Secular Social Picnic

    July 19, 2020

Come by any method possible and join us at this beautiful lakeside park for a pleasant picnic.

Beasley Park is on Woodsdale Road in Lake Country, just off of Highway 97.

Beasley Park has a beach for swimming and boating and a lovely picnic area.  Beasley Park is on an 18 Km. bicycle trail around Wood Lake which is part of the Okanagan Rail Trail.  The trail on the west side of the lake, which is paved, is on the Pelmewash Parkway.  The east side has a hard-packed shale surface. You can bike around the trail in the morning.

Bring the whole family for outdoor fun and pleasant conversations with KASHA members and general community members. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please bring your own chairs. As per Dr. Henry's suggestions, we will also be maintaining a contact list of attendees.

Look for the KASHA signs on the beach.  We will NOT be sharing food, so please bring your own lunch,  non- alcoholic drinks, and snacks. We will be practising physical distancing as per BC Health Guidelines.

"Interior Health's Dr. Silvina Mema said it isn't likely people are spreading or catching the disease simply walking around the city or visiting restaurants while following distancing rules.

"That's not what's driving these recent Kelowna clusters," she said. "It's mainly the indoor gatherings, particularly if there is alcohol involved." from CBC news

    Zoom Room KASHA Coffee Klatsch

    July 28, 2020

Are you missing the social interaction & conversations at the KASHA Secular Humanist Thinkers’ Café which used to occur at 8:30 am on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month at Urban Fare Mission Park, but is now stopped due to COVID-19 concerns?

The Zoom Room Coffee Klatsch will occur on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  All you need to attend the online Coffee Klatsch is internet service and a computer with audio and, preferably, a camera to show your face; you do, however, have to bring your own coffee or other beverage of choice.  You do not need to get Zoom software.  If you are instead, just click on the Zoom Web Link below a few minutes before the scheduled meeting.

The concept is that at each Zoom Room Coffee Klatsch the participants can choose what they want to talk about.  To get us started there may be a couple of suggested discussion topics, such as for example: (1) During this COVID-19 shut-in period how are you managing to get groceries and staples, and/or do you need some help? (2) How long do you think the COVID-19 shut-in period will last, in Canada, BC and more specifically in the Central Okanagan? OR even, (3) Is Klatsch the correct spelling, or should it be Klatch, Clatch, Clutch or the original German word Kaffeeklatsch (i.e., Gossip over Coffee)? These are just a few ideas to get us started, but thereafter Coffee Klatsch participants will decide on discussion topics of interest to each of them.  You can leave each meeting anytime you wish by pushing the ‘Leave Meeting’ button in Zoom.  Interested?

If you are interested in participating in this ‘new’ way to socially interact in these difficult self-distanced and home-bound times, use this link:

If you have questions, please contact Reg at rocdocedbc@gmail.com.  Reg will respond confidentially to each interested participant to explain: (a) how Zoom basically works, (b) how the protocols for the Zoom Room Coffee Klatsch will or should work, and (c) answer any questions you may have.

Reg has booked bi-weekly meetings until Sept 22.  If the desire is to have the KASHA Coffee Klatsch continue into the fall, Reg will book in early October from then until end December.
