KASHA has started a discussion group for people who are in the process of leaving organized religion and for those who have already left it. The group is open to anyone who is struggling with big questions about the role of religion in his or her life. We understand that having a major “shift” in religious faith may be upsetting in many ways. It is our hope that we can support others as they search for answers along the way.
My name is Tania and I will be leading the group discussion. I have been a member for about three years. I was a Christian until about five years ago, when I was 27 years old. At that time, I began struggling intensely with questions about the role of religion in my life. Over the course of about two years, I went through a process of deconverting from Christianity — which is something that I never imagined would happen — and eventually decided to leave behind many of the beliefs, rituals, and ways of living that no longer made sense to me. It is no easy task to leave one’s religion, and I benefited greatly from the many people, books, videos, and online support groups that made the journey a bit easier.
I welcome the opportunity to help anyone who is going through similar circumstances.
The discussion group volunteers can help via email or phone via skype. If you are interested in the support, please contact us via the contact form below. It is a confidential email that only goes to the group coordinator.
