Kelowna Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists Association is a non-partisan body that seeks to foster a secular community guided by reason, science, freedom of inquiry, and humanistic values.

We are a community of freethinking people who put on events, workshops, and conferences and work to promote critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning in Kelowna and the Okanagan for greater community and cooperation.

At KASHA we focus on these areas:

1. Human Rights

2. Science

3. Education.

4. Secular Humanism

In all of these areas, we work to promote a scientific and secular humanist life stance, one that challenges established norms and customs and one that believes in the freedom of all individuals to ask important questions about life, nature, and the world around them.

History Statement – KASHA recognizes the long and varied human history of settlement, exploitation, systemic racism, and environmental change over the land that we now call the Okanagan and Canada.

Diversity Statement – KASHA embraces all human diversity that evolution has bestowed upon us. We welcome all genders, sexual orientations, and the beautiful medley of homo sapiens to come sit, discuss and change the world with us.

A Brighter Future – It is only with our focused determination for reasoned and rational change that we will build a better and brighter future for the coming generations.

One of the first topics covered in first year biology is the mechanism by which cells decode DNA and make protein. It takes some effort for students to master these concepts and I don’t expect non-biologists to fully understand […]

Cryotherapy is Crazytherapy

January 25, 2016/in News, Thoughts/by Blythe Nilson

The original version of this article appeared in the Kelowna Daily Courier on January 10, 2016. Residents of Kelowna no longer need to step outside in a bathing suit this winter to feel really cold. In exchange for $55 you can spend a couple of minutes shivering inside a “cryochamber” cooled to -150C by liquid […]
